The SV171 is a wide boat for a 17 footer coming in with a 90 inch beam on a 17 foot, one inch length. The inner liner is cored with Airex foam for stiffness and is bonded to the eight inch wide fiberglass stringers for additional strength.
This boat has a 17 degree dead rise bottom with two lifting strakes and a slight reverse chine. The hull has a roll edge top and the liner is bonded to it creating a wide gunwale top that is extremely stiff. This vertical sheer line treatment helps in spray knock down for a drier ride. We use our FB console in this boat with the FB instrument panel. This panel has a Yamaha tachometer, volt and fuel gauge and a Marinco power point. Circuit breakers protect the four switches for navigation lights, bilge pump, aerator pump and an accessory switch. The accessory switch has two sets of wires for powering add-on radios and depth finders. The fuel tank is 0.125 marine aluminum and is located below the floor. The aft port side bait well is 40 quarts and the aerator pump is mounted on a bronze thru-hull and sea cock. This boat is a quick, dry, and well behaved boat that is perfect for a two or three man fishing boat or for a young family boat.
